Installing R and RStudio on your own machine

These pages give you brief instructions on how to install R and RStudio onto your own machine.

Note that to use RStudio, you first need to have installed R.

Installing R

1. Go to http://www.r-project.org.
2. Click on download R.
3. Choose a mirror. It is recommended that you choose either one of the 0-Cloud or UK mirrors.
4. Click on Download R for ... depending on your operating system and follow the instructions.

Installing RStudio

1. Go to https://posit.co/.
2. Go to Free & Open Source → Analyze & Explore → RStudio IDE.
3. Click on Download RStudio Desktop under Open Source Edition.
4. Download the installer appropriate for your operating system.
